CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – A fishpond caretaker died in a collision between two motor bancas on the river in Sitio Imbo, Barangay San Miguel, Bani, Pangasinan on Monday, October 16.
Police identified the victim as Marcelo Alleda Carlit, 56, resident of Barangay Polo, Alaminos City, Pangasinan.
Investigation said Carlit was operating a banca with a passenger, Celzo Peralta Rancapero, 59, a fisherman from Sitio Imbo, when it accidentally collided with another motor banca operated by Bobby Crantia Bauzon, 56, also a fishpond caretaker from Barangay San Miguel. Due to the impact of the collision, Carlit fell into the river and his passenger and Bauzon were unhurt.
Residents recovered the victim from the bottom of the river and was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.
