While many of her friends are out having fun – cafe hopping and travelling, new mother Cassandra Yeoh says she’s been busy with “diaper-changing marathons”.

“Since the day my son was in my womb, my life changed,” says the young mum. “The crux of my life was no longer about myself but my son. From A to Z... it’s all about him. I put him before myself,” she adds.First-time mum Yeoh with her 11-month-old baby boy 'Hann Hann'. Photo: Cassandra Yeoh “You also can’t eat in peace. No matter how luxurious the restaurant is, since I became a mum, the aim is to eat fast and leave fast – like in a fast-food restaurant,” she laughs. “But it gets better as baby grows older.”“After having a child, I realised that going to the toilet in peace is a luxury. Hann Hann is like a ‘Velcro baby’ who likes to follow mummy everywhere to see what she does.
“Most of my child-raising knowledge is from my mum and her experience as a mother is my most valuable asset,” she adds. She learnt, for example, that she has to always keep an eye on her infant and to not have too many things in the crib when her baby is sleeping as babies may suffocate if a bolster, pillow or blanket blocks their nose.“Wash baby’s butt often, especially after he/she poops and when changing their diapers to prevent wounds from developing on the butt,” she says from another piece of advice she picked up.“It’s amazing how a small baby needs so many things.
“I read up articles from the Internet on what to expect and whether the symptoms I was experiencing were normal.
