PUTRAJAYA: The cash aid programme for the B40 income group has been renamed to Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and the first phase of payment will start from Jan 17 (Tuesday), says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister said the government has decided to make the payment earlier in January compared with the initial plan where the aid will be disbursed in March to ease the people’s cost of living burden.
“The unity government has adopted the ‘rahmah’ approach in looking after the welfare of those who are facing difficulties, especially the vulnerable groups,” he said in a statement on Monday . A total of 1.2 million senior citizens without spouses will receive RM100 while some 3.5 million single individuals will also get RM100 each.
