This major appointment will see Torres-Springer undergo a new, expanded role, according to City Hall, in which she will strive to move the Big Apple’s unhoused into stable housing while also working toward the creation of 500,000 new homes for New Yorkers over the next decade. The new deputy mayor of housing has an extensive pedigree, having started with the Adams administration in January of 2022 and played a leading part in the oversight of the New York City Department of City Planning and the New York City Economic Development Corporation.
