There was hardly a dry eye at Sydney International Airport on Tuesday night, as the first repatriation flight from Israel brought hundreds of Australians home to their families and friends.
Qatar Airways service QR7424 flew in from Dubai about 6pm, carrying 222 passengers who left Israel amid ongoing conflict in the region following Hamas' brutal attacks on October 7.
Heartwarming photos showed people smiling and holding balloons as they celebrated the return of their loved ones, some crying as they hugged each other in the waiting area. They were awaiting the arrival of their son Michael, daughter-in-law and young granddaughter.
