Rep. Ro Khanna became the first Democratic congressman to publicly urge 89-year-old Sen. Dianne Feinstein to resign after she missed 60 of the 82 votes taken in the Senate so far this year. “It’s time for @SenFeinstein to resign,” Khanna tweeted Wednesday. “We need to put the country ahead of personal loyalty. While she has had a lifetime of public service, it is obvious she can no longer fulfill her duties.
Not speaking out undermines our credibility as elected representatives of the people.” Feinstein was hospitalized for shingles in early March and has missed so many votes that it’s becomefor Democrats in the chamber to confirm President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees. Khanna may be the first member of Congress to speak up publicly, but Democrats outside of government have raised similar concerns.
