NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio - Construction will shut down the onramp to the Turnpike eastbound lanes at Toll Plaza 152 for six months, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission announced.Work will be done on the Ohio Turnpike mainline bridge at milepost 152.1 eastbound that runs above the onramp, OTIC stated.Drivers will be diverted to detour to Lorain Road north to I-480 east to I-71 south to Toll Plaza 161 .
“Phase I of the project includes the partial removal and replacement of the bridge deck at milepost 152.1 eastbound in Lorain County. Following the completion of the new concrete bridge deck, the center and right lanes will be paved with asphalt. The left shoulder and left lane will remain open for eastbound traffic on the Ohio Turnpike.
During Phase I, part of the eastbound bridge deck will be removed and replaced. The left shoulder and left lane will remain open for eastbound traffic on the Ohio Turnpike during the paving of the center and right lanes. There will be no permanent lane closures on the mainline of the Ohio Turnpike during the project. Some intermittent lane closures will be scheduled.As April kicks off work zone construction season, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission urges drivers to be “self-aware of dangerous behaviors behind the wheel – such as aggressive and distracted driving – to reduce crashes, especially in work zones, when traveling on the 241-mile toll road and elsewhere.
