TAWAU: A woman suffered burns on the face and legs in an early morning fire which destroyed eight houses in Kampung Hidayat, Batu 4, Jalan Apas, here, Wednesday, Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jemishin Ujin said the 31-year-old was sent to Tawau Hospital.

“On arrival, they found eight houses and four cars on fire. Swift action was taken to prevent the fire from spreading to 15 other nearby houses,” he said. The Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 11.19am and dispatched a team to the scene.Upon arrival at 12.05pm, the firefighters found two non-permanent stilt houses had been completely engulfed in flames.

The Fire and Rescue team led by Asama Saruddin conducted a thorough inspection of the area to ensure no further danger remained. Daily Express Malaysia
