The fire in West Milford had grown to 720 acres as of late Thursday night and was 35% contained.

Earlier Thursday evening, the situation appeared to worsen when the Forest Fire Service said the fire had grown to 648 acres and was 25% contained with 10 structures threatened. A small fire on Thursday on Highlander Driver in West Milford was extinguished after a branch struck a power line, the mayor said. It was unrelated to the wildfire.
