Ten fire trucks and 100 firefighters are currently battling a blaze in Sydney’s west which has engulfed a plastics factory.

The facility is believed to have been operational at the time the blaze started with about 30 workers inside the building.

Fire and Rescue NSW have confirmed all persons are accounted for but warned commuters to avoid the area due to poor air quality. The blaze is the second factory fire in less than twelve hours following an inferno in the nearby suburb of Fairfield. Emergency services rushed to a Metro Service Station at the corner of Hamilton Road and Sackville Street in Fairfield at about 6.30pm on Wednesday eveningFire crews worked through the night to bring the Fairfield blaze under control, with both factory fires now confirmed to be contained.
