Residents on the Sunshine Coast have been allowed to return home after fires burned dangerously close to properties. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Supt Steve DePinto said they were able to “get the upper hand” with the fires. “This morning things are far more controlled,” Mr DePinto told Sky News Australia. “We had some fast-running fires – we were able to respond very quickly to those with large amounts of resources. “It's not contained completely but the fires are inside containment lines in a far better state than yesterday.”
