The house of Sarawak deputy minister, Datuk Gerawat Gala, was razed in a fire in Kampung Pa’ Umor, Bario, Sarawak. The fire was reported in the early morning and the Marudi fire and rescue station immediately responded. The fire extinguishing operation was carried out by the Bario Volunteer Fire Brigade, assisted by officers, army personnel, and villagers. Due to the distance, a MI17 fire helicopter was used for forensic work. Initial investigations revealed that the fire completely destroyed the private single-storey house.

Six members of the Bario Volunteer Fire Brigade were immediately activated to carry out the fire extinguishing operation, as reported by“The operation was further assisted by 20 officers and army personnel stationed at Bario, as well as villagers,” said Henderi.
