IPOH: The Perak Fire and Rescue Department has deployed two tracker dogs from the K9 unit to find a 17-year-old missing teenager in Kampung Tanjong Sejarah, near Kampung Tawai, Gerik.

State assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the search and rescue mission for the boy resumed on Thursday morning. He said the dogs and three firefighters from Kuala Lumpur arrived at the Gerik Fire and Rescue Station at 9am and a search was conducted within a two-kilometre radius from where the victim’s motorcycle was found.

"The search is facing challenges as the road to the rubber plantation is narrow and there is no reception on the Government Integrated Radio Network ," he said in a statement on Thursday. Sabarodzi said the victim was last seen at 9 am on Wednesday at Kampung Ulu Kenderong, Jalan Air Bertam. His family members went in search of the victim and found the motorcycle he was riding on at about 6 pm in a rubber plantation six kilometres from Gerik town.

The SAR operation involved 82 people, including police, the public, district council and district office personnel. - Bernama
