Dozens of Sydney residents will be eligible for financial support to shield their homes from aircraft noise when the new Western Sydney Airport opens in three years.
The federal government released a draft Environmental Impact Statement on Tuesday which outlined the noise impacts for residents living near the airport.

Picture: NCA NewsWire / Simon Bullard.Those living below the planned flight paths could experience five or more aircraft noise events above 70 decibels each day, enough to disturb conversation inside a building. Overhead aircraft noise must exceed 50 decibels inside the home or office to be considered for the program.
The document also detailed the impacts the new flight paths would have on the area’s biodiversity, natural landscape and local heritage.
