BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A 43-year-old man was sentenced to 40 years and six months’ imprisonment and 17 strokes of whipping by the High Court on Monday (Nov 18) for multiple sexual offences against his two nieces.
KUALA LUMPUR: The decision on continuing the use of QR codes for immigration clearance at the Malaysia-Singapore border will be finalised this year, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on Monday .
He mentioned that the decision will follow the outcome of the proof of concept period from June 1 to Nov 30, where two categories of travellers—bus passengers and motorcyclists—were allowed to use QR codes.Saifuddin highlighted that the QR code system, used by travellers who make up over 80% of the 400,000 daily crossings, has proven highly effective in easing border traffic congestion.
"It was agreed in the meeting to finalise the procurement process for the QR code system this year following the POC submission. It was also agreed that use of the QR be extended to travellers on other forms of transport, to be implemented in phases next year," he said at a press conference at the Bukit Aman police headquarters.
