The FINA World Cup gave Hoosiers a glimpse of the excitement to expect in 2024 when the USA Swimming Olympic trails come to Lucas Oil Stadium.
Top-tier swimmers made a splash last weekend in Indianapolis as the FINA Swimming World Cup took over the Indiana University Natatorium to close out the World Cup series.
Katie Ledecky ended the weekend by breaking the world record in the short course 800-meter freestyle swim. In her final 200 meters, fans stood and cheered the Olympian. While the event featured swimmers from around the world, some names were more familiar to the Indianapolis crowd. Carmel High School sophomore Alex Shackell won a bronze medal, as did former Carmel swimmer Drew Kibler. Indiana University alum Lilly King claimed the gold medal in the 200-meter breaststroke.
