The Philippine women’s national football team blasted Hong Kong in the waning minutes of the second half for its debut win, 3-1, in the 19th Asian Games on Friday, Sept. 22, at the Wenzhou Sports Centre Stadium in China.
The world No. 44 Filipinas overcame a stalemate at the break before Quinley Quezada and Katrina Guillou fired back-to-back goals in the final minutes of the match to secure the victory and give newly appointed head coach Mark Torcaso his first win with the squad.
Filipinas forward Sarina Bolden converted a penalty kick to open the scoring in the ninth minute of the game to give the Philippines an early lead. Bolden continued her attempts to go for a brace, but her shot in the 54th minute hit the post which kept the scoreboard tied at 1-1.
