A fifth-grade student at Forest Hills Elementary School in Colleton County, South Carolina, has died after a classroom fight this week.
GREENVILLE, S.C. – A fifth-grade student in South Carolina who was injured during a classroom fight and airlifted to a hospital Monday has died, the school district said.District officials were focused on providing support services to students, teachers, staff and community while the Colleton County Sheriff's Office continues its investigation, the school district said.
"We are devastated by this news, and we want our communities to keep their thoughts and prayers with the student’s family at this time," the district said in its statement. The fight happened inside a Forest Hills Elementary School classroom, the district said. School administrators ended the fight then called EMS.
The injured student was airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for treatment, according to the school district. What's next for them?A student from the school was suspended until an investigation is complete, according to the district.In an emailed statement, the Colleton County Sheriff's Office said,"We are still unable to disclose any information regarding this incident due to this being an on-going investigation.
