The financial services giant said it plans to help 2,500 students over the next five years with scholarships.

ByFidelity is making a big commitment to support economic mobility for up to 50,000 underserved students, with Dallas-Fort Worth serving as one of three launch regions.

“Dallas-Fort Worth has a deep population, a deep workforce and a deep student base,” said Scott Orr, head of southern regional public affairs at Fidelity. The funds will provide access to education and support for the students, with about 80% going to individual scholarships for two-year college, four-year college or certificate programs.

Fidelity said it will measure the program’s success by looking at the students’ college completion rates, as well as whether they graduate with student debt and if they land secure, well-paid jobs that “facilitate greater economic mobility and financially firm futures.”
