PETALING JAYA: A fever will not weaken national men’s singles shuttler Ng Tze Yong’s resolve to make his All-England debut in Birmingham from March 14-19.
Tze Yong was not spotted at training with his teammates at the Academy Badminton Malaysia in Bukit Kiara yesterday but men’s singles coach Hendra-wan was quick to allay fears sparked by his absence.“We have given him a few days to rest and recover. He will be back training soon and will be fine for the All-England.’’
The 22-year-old is currently in the race to make the cut for the 2024 Paris Olympics and is aiming to collect as many ranking points as possible to put him in a good position before the start of the qualifying period in May. The youngster, who enjoyed a breakthrough period last year, notably when he captured a gold and silver in the Birmingham Common-wealth Games in August, is still finding his feet at the highest level.
