Life is a collection of moments, some positive and joyful, others more challenging and confusing. And there are certain moments in life we’ll always remember coming together with loved ones for big celebrations, for example, or even just small family gatherings. These points in time are filled with special memories — of laughter shared, stories exchanged, or perhaps a dance with someone you love.

“I’ve been stunned and confused several times before, especially as a Navy diver, but I managed to find my way out of the darkness. Similarly, with my CLL diagnosis, I thought, maybe I can do it again,” Dennis said. Fortunately, he did. While in the watch and wait period, Dennis was still taking time to learn more about his disease and discuss what the next step might be in his treatment journey with his healthcare team, when and if treatment was needed. He monitored his health for more than two years until he started to see symptoms progress. “I just had no energy for some of the things my wife and I love, like spending time in the garden together, and that frightened me a little,” he said.
