The revised congressional plan Ohio Republicans introduced on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.COLUMBUS, Ohio — A federal court should order Ohio elections officials not to recognize the winners of next month’s congressional primary races because the new de facto district lines discriminate against Black voters, an attorney for Youngstown-area voters argued before a judicial panel Monday.
Attorney Percy Squire, who made the argument, is representing the Rev. Kenneth L. Simon and other Black Youngstown-area voters who claim that Ohio’s new state legislative and congressional maps discriminate against Black voters. They intervened in a federal lawsuitseeking to force the Ohio Supreme Court to accept a separate GOP-backed Ohio Redistricting Commission plan for state legislative districts.
