PUBLISHED 9:06 PM CDT Jul. 06, 2022TEXAS — A program created by President Barack Obama to protect so-called Dreamers — undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children — is once again under legal attack. A federal appeals court held a hearing Wednesday on a Texas-led challenge to finally end it. The 5th Circuit’s decision is expected to come down later this year
“Some agents are going to be making over $500,000 this year, and they’re going to be paying taxes on that, right? In the last couple of years, I’ve paid over six figures in taxes here for the state of Texas,” Corzo said. On Wednesday, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held a hearing into the effort spearheaded by the State of Texas to end the Obama-era program.
“The reality of the situation is when you bring in 100,000 additional people into a state, it’s going to tax the public services, it’s going to tax the roads, it’s going to have effects on hospitals and everything else,” Weldon said.
