Why on earth am I lying like a teenager who forgot to do their homework? The truth is, I’m embarrassed to not know something.How many times have you felt ashamed when you didn’t know a certain word in the English language, but still nodded along in agreement? Or pretended that you too loved a song you have never heard before? I think, often, we are scared of looking silly.
Though I’ve had some wonderful conversations with journalists, I’ve also sat in countless interviews where they have used the weight of a university degree to outweigh anything I’ve ever learnt. Today I am confident enough to challenge them or rise above it. I know I am knowledgeable about my passions:mental wellbeing, art, family, friendship, love and empathy. These are my specialist subjects, and yet I can’t wear a badge saying I’man expert in them because they are learnt through experience.
