Suspect who carried out December shooting at a Pensacola naval base had communicated directly with a suspected Al Qaeda operative, a U.S. official confirms to ABC News.

Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray announced that Pensacola Naval Air Station shooter Mohammed Alshamrani communicated with Al-Qaeda [AQAP] associated based on evidence.
