Fatih Mehmet Macoglu wins local elections in Tunceli and becomes the first communist municipal mayor in Turkey

The Communist Party of Turkey candidate Fatih Mehmet Macoglu was celebrating winning of Tunceli's mayorship on March 31, 2019.

According to preliminary results, Macoglu, the candidate for the Communist Party of Turkey , has been elected as the new mayor of Tunceli municipality defeating his rivals from the CHP and HDP. Macoglu first gained popularity when he became the first-ever communist municipal mayor of a small town, Ovacik, in the eastern part of Turkey.
