The 43-year-old New Jersey was trying to rescue his fiancé's 12-year-old daughter at Strathmere Beach on Monday.
Mark Costin, of Vineland, was pulled from the water at about 12:15 p.m., State Police said Thursday.
Costin died at an area hospital. The drowning remains under investigation, according to Detective Jeffrey Lebron, a State Police spokesman. Costin was tying to save his fiancé's 12-year-old daughter after the girl got caught in a rip current, according to according toHe is survived his 13-year-old daughter, his fiancé and her three children.
