A father and three of his family members were convicted in a terrorism and kidnapping case Tuesday that resulted in the death of his 3-year-old son on a New Mex
The father, his brother-in-law, and his two sisters were arrested following a 2018 raid at the compound.
Officers were searching the compound for the 3-year-old boy, who had been abducted from his mother’s home. The boy’s decomposed remains were ultimately found there in an underground tunnel. Prosecutors did not say how the boy died. During the raid, authorities also found eleven emaciated children wearing rags and no shoes. The group had apparently been living off the grid for months.A fifth person agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy and firearm charges. They face up to 17 years in prison.
