Thirty-seven-year-old Jaime Santillanes faces charges of murder and abuse of a child under 8 years old resulting in death, according to SDPD.
Nine days after she died, San Diego police said a 7-week-old's father is being charged with her killing.
The baby, who investigators later determined"had sustained serious traumatic internal injuries that were indicative of physical child abuse," was taken outside to an ambulance and brought to nearby Rady Childen's Hospital for treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries on March 21. In that same news release, police said that detectives determined the infant's father had inflicted fatal injuries upon his child, whose identity is being withheld pending the notification of family members.
