Three people have been indicted in the drug overdose death of a 26-year-old Jasper man, including his own father.

Landon Tyler Rader, 26, died of a drug overdose in Walker County on March 27, 2023.

A Walker County grand jury issued the three-county indictment against the trio on July 25 on charges of felony murder, manslaughter and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. The indictment alleges the trio provided and/or encouraged the ingestion of controlled substances, failed to seek medical attention at the first signs of distress and furnished the methamphetamine and/or amphetamine and/or Hydrocodone that led Landon Rader’s death.

Deputies responded to the overdose in the Thach community that Monday and noticed something didn’t look right, said Capt. Darrell Mote. An investigation was immediately launched.“I hope this sends a message to the citizens of Walker County and surrounding that if you sell, furnish or give away a controlled substance that causes the death of another human being that you can be held liable,’’ Smith said.
