A serious accident occurred on the North-South Highway (heading north) near Ayer Keroh, Melaka, on December 23rd, involving a bus, lorry, trailer, an MPV, and a Perodua Bezza. The accident resulted in four fatalities, all passengers in a Toyota Estima, and the driver and passenger of a bus. 33 others were injured and transported to various hospitals for treatment. Investigations suggest a tyre blowout on the lorry triggered the chain reaction.

Kanak-kanak Lelaki Antara Yang Maut Dalam Kemalangan Ini Memetik laporan Harian Metro, nahas terbabit membabitkan sebuah bas ekspres, lori foton, treler, kenderaan pelbagai guna Toyota Estima dan Perodua Bezza. “Jadi setakat ini kita mengambil masa lebih kurang dalam empat jam dan operasi ini semua sudah terkawal dan proses mengalihkan bas, treler, MPV serta muatan pakaian terpakai yang tercampak daripada treler itu sedang dilakukan,” katanya.Dua lagi penumpang Estima, iaitu Muhammad Uwais Al-Qarni Khairul Ikhwan dan adiknya, Nur Sofea Humaira Khairul Ikhwan berusia tujuh dan empat tahun cedera dan masing-masing dirawat di Zon Merah dan Zon Kuning Hospital Melaka.
