Three families and a pediatrician in North Dakota are seeking to block the state's ban on gender-affirming health care for minors.
“Going forward, thoughtful debate around these complex medical policies should demonstrate compassion and understanding for all North Dakota youth and their families,” Burgum said at the time.
Mother Devon Dolney said Tate was previously severely depressed and angry, but with the care “went from being ashamed and uncomfortable with who he is to being confident and outspoken,” a “miraculous” change. The law exempts minors who were already receiving gender-affirming care, and allows for treatment of “a minor born with a medically verifiable genetic disorder of sex development.”
Bill sponsor and Republican state Rep. Bill Tveit told the AP that he brought the legislation to protect children.
