Wu Zunyou, un epidemiólogo que ayudó a impulsar las medidas contra el COVID-19 en China que aislaron ciudades y confinaron a millones de personas en sus hogares, falleció el viernes.
Tenía 60 años. En su anuncio, el Centro para el Control y Prevención de Enfermedades de China no ofreció la causa de la muerte de Wu, pero apuntó que “las medidas de auxilio” no funcionaron.
La noticia del deceso de Wu se produjo unas horas después del anuncio de la muerte del ex primer ministro Li Keqiang, quien fue el segundo de abordo del presidente, Xi Jinping, durante la pandemia. Wu era el epidemiólogo jefe de los CDC chinos y uno de los responsables del protocolo de cero contagios de COVID-19 del país que supuso la suspensión de los viajes al extranjero, impuso confinamientos draconianos y provocó inusuales protestas a finales de 2022.
