KUALA LUMPUR: Five Health Ministry officers implicated in a corruption scandal involving falsified Social Security Organisation disability claims in Penang have resumed their duties.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the officers have been transferred to other hospitals while awaiting the investigation's results. He said they were initially suspended under Regulation 43 of the Public Officers Regulations 1993 from Sept 17, to facilitate the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s probe.
“As a matter of principle, the ministry does not compromise on abuse of power or corruption,” he added. He also said the orthopaedics department at the hospital involved in the investigation is operating as usual so that patient care would not be interrupted.
