With Euro 2024 taking place in Germany, two countries without a manager have been busy recruiting.

That he did so while on media duty on the eve of Georgia’s Euro 2024 clash with Turkey would put his words in the ‘what else what he going to say’ category. On the same day, the inevitable confirmation came that the FAI wouldn’t be renewing Stephen Kenny’s contract. He was fired from Besiktas in early-April, just three months into the role. Some could say that he was relieved of his existing contractual obligations.
But as we watch 24 of our European neighbours battle it out on the pitches across Germany, it’s hard not to wonder if there is any kind of strategy in place.
