A full-time successor to Stephen Kenny has yet to be found by the association, with John O'Shea taking charge of the team for the recent friendlies against Belgium and Switzerland
The FAI reportedly met with Roy Keane on three occasions to discuss the vacant Republic of Ireland manager's role.
O'Shea has put his name in the hat to get the gig permanently, with the FAI stating once again on Wednesday that the new manager will be named next month.But it has now emerged that the association have discussed the role with Manchester United legend Keane, with the Irish Examiner reporting that they met with him three times since Kenny's departure as boss last November.
