In its statement, Luas said sample tests of murky water flowing from a monsoon drain into the river near the Tun Abdul Aziz Mosque on Aug 12 revealed a pH reading of 12.Following this discovery, further investigation was carried out on the drains at Jalan Professor Khoo Kay Kim where turbid and effluent discharge was found.

At the same time, on-site sampling conducted at the upstream locations near the Tun Abdul Aziz Mosque revealed that the dissolved oxygen content in the water was good with a measurement of between 3.2 to 4.33 milligrams per litre. Further sampling of the river water surrounding the affected area as well as forensic investigation on the fish carcasses will be done by the Selangor Environment Department and Selangor State Fisheries Department.
