Why we fact-checked this:
The claim was made in an August 1 YouTube video that currently has 4,255 views and 89 likes as of writing. It was posted by a channel that has been fact-checked by Rappler multiple times for using misleading video clips of military activities.China has not started its invasion of Taiwan. The video does not show any proof to support its claim. Instead, it shows unrelated clips of what appears to be a military drill.
There are also no official reports from the government of China or Taiwan to support this false claim. The misleading video was uploaded just days after Taiwan reported recent Chinese military activity in the vicinity of the island, which China claims as its territory.
