The meteorological department says three days’ warning would be given when heavy rain or floods are expected.

MetMalaysia says Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang can expect heavy rain from November to December and Johor and Sarawak from December to January.

PETALING JAYA: With the onset of the annual northeast monsoon next month, the meteorological department says four to six bouts of heavy rainfall can be expected between November and February. MetMalaysia official Fariza Yunus said heavy rain is expected in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang from November to December and in Johor and Sarawak from December to January, Bernama reported.

She said MetMalaysia would issue warnings of floods and heavy rain three days before they are expected to occur. She advised those in flood-prone areas to keep their important documents in high places and to move to safer places when instructed by the authorities.
