KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony says a review of existing water storage capacity in the state will be done, with a focus on capital and its surrounding areas.

Anthony said this was part of improvement to the state's existing water systems – besides upgrading and replacing outdated equipment like water pumps and tanks.

Talking to reporters after visiting the Telibong 1 and Telibong 2 water treatment plans in Tamparuli, he said he would look into the need to increase storage capacity in these two plants as well as others."We admitted our supply for the state is not sufficient for all areas – especially with some of the designs dating back from 2004. There are also changes in demand after many years in terms of population increase.

Anthony said he had asked for data from all housing estates to be channelled to them as soon as possible so they can learn about current capacity needs. "Developers also need to give their cooperation as they are involved in management fees for such utilities.Article type: free
