ANC treasurer-general Paul Mashatile believes that just because he is in charge of three of the party's top six positions, it does not make him the most powerful leader in the party, or one who can manipulate processes in favour of his ambitions.

Mashatile's control of three of the party's top six positions - he also acts as secretary-general and deputy secretary general - has raised the ire of his political opponents in the ANC who believe he has an unfair advantage in his quest to be elected deputy president.
