Cohen told lawmakers he would never ask for or accept a pardon from President Trump during testimony to the House Oversight Committee last week.
Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer and fixer, told his attorney to"explore" a potential pardon last year with Trump's legal team, according to Lanny Davis, one of Cohen's current lawyers.
Davis, however, said he and Cohen stand by the testimony because, according to Davis, it was referring to the time period after Cohen left his joint defense agreement with Trump. Cohen eventually pleaded guilty to several federal crimes, including lying to Congress and campaign-finance violations. He is scheduled to report to prison May 6 for a three-year sentence.
