Kim Jong-dae, a member of the Justice Party, alleged based on information from a military police officer that Yoon smelled of alcohol while walking past the officer in the Joint Chiefs of Staff building after a private conversation with the then-Defense Minister. Yoon's legal team has filed a complaint against Kim for defamation and misleading the public, stating that his claims damage the president's image and decision-making process.

Kim was accused of defaming the impeached president and misleading the public, making him just the latest on a list of those facing potential legal ramifications after publicly alluding to the president’s alleged drinking habits. “Kim should refrain from depreciating the president’s determination using the privately obtained information that was not fact-checked,” Yoon’s team said in a statement.
