Former President Donald Trump's 2024 campaign announced Tuesday that Michigan's six-member Republican congressional delegation is endorsing his third bid for the White House.
“We're proud to announce our full endorsement of President Donald J. Trump,” said Reps. Tim Walberg, Bill Huizenga, John Moolenaar, Jack Bergman, and Lisa McClain in a joint statement. “Under the Trump presidency, America was prosperous, the economy was strong, the world was a safer place, and Michiganders were better off.
All six members will also serve as part of Trump's Michigan federal leadership team, the campaign announced. Trump narrowly won Michigan's 16 electoral votes in 2016, winning 47.5% of the vote over Hillary Clinton's 47.27%. But he lost the state in 2020. President Joe Biden won 50.6% of the vote compared to Trump's 47.8%.Michigan's other remaining seven congressional members are Democrats, as are both its senators.
Trump is the current front-runner in the GOP 2024 nominating race leading all other rivals by double digits in polling and in endorsements nationwide, including his closest competitor, Gov. Ron DeSantis . The first GOP primary debate will be held in Milwaukee on Aug. 23, but it remains to be seen whether Trump will appear on the stage with DeSantis and other 2020 rivals.
