Phillies star Bryce Harper seems pretty skeptical about the idea of the Oakland A's moving to his hometown of Las Vegas.

They have so much history in Oakland. You’re taking a team out of a city. I’m pretty sad. … I see the A’s as Oakland. I don’t see them as Vegas.
Both Harper and his Philadelphia teammate, fellow Vegas local Bryson Stott, said they would prefer an expansion team, if anything. And they were bothStott said it would “take a few generations before they have a real fandom in baseball,” while Harper said, “It’s just going to be tough for those guys. It was tough for the Raiders last year.” The Raiders got their own nine-figure boondoggle from Nevada and have ranked near the bottom of the NFL in attendance since moving to Las Vegas in 2020.
“I don’t think they should use the A’s name,” Harper told The Athletic. “I really don’t. I don’t think it’s fair to anybody in Oakland for that to happen. I really don’t. I think they should rebrand it.”
