The Astros are on the road facing two of the best teams in baseball and say it's not too...

Matt Olson #28 of the Atlanta Braves forces out Houston Astros Yordan Alvarez #44 of the Houston Astros in the first inning at Truist Park on August 21, 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia.ATLANTA — The calendar says it's only April, but that doesn't mean Dusty Baker will shy away from calling this an important road trip against the Braves and Rays, two of baseball's top teams.

Entering Friday, the Braves are tied with the Brewers for the best record in the National League, and the Rays , who the Astros will play in a three-game series at Tropicana Field starting Monday, have the best record in all of baseball. "No, it's not too early," the Astros manager said."We'd like to win both series since those two teams are playing the best right now."

Conversely, the Astros have gotten off to a more tepid start, but Baker has seen signs of that turning around, especially with a series win over the Blue Jays before the road trip. Baker's bullpen also enters the road trip well-rested after Thursday's off day and the seven shutout innings starter Luis Garcia gave the team in a Wednesday night win over Toronto.

"He's a heck of a player, heck of a thrower, clutch hitter," Baker said."How many catchers are batting cleanup, you know what I mean? That's some Johnny Bench stuff there."
