MALAYSIA has claimed that a European Union proposal to limit the use of palm oil lacks scientific evidence and breaches the World Trade Organisation’s non-discrimination obligations, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Council . The European Commission wants to phase out the use of palm oil in motor fuel, citing mass deforestation for palm oil cultivation as one of the main reasons.
