RIBUAN penduduk, majoritinya etnik Bidayuh, mengambil kesempatan cuti umum hari ini untuk mengambil bahagian dalam mendaki Bung Bratak atau Bukit Bratak setinggi 304m di Bau, kira-kira 40km dari Kuching. Bukit itu amat penting - malah ada yang menyifatkannya sebagai suci - kepada kaum Bidayuh dari suku Jagoi-Bratak kerana di sinilah tempat nenek moyang mereka menetap selepas berhijrah dari Sungkong di Kalimantan Barat kira-kira 800 tahun dahulu.
