KOTA KINABALU: A plantation worker is missing after he is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile at Sungai Pegagau in Sabah's east coast Semporna district.

The Semporna Fire and Rescue Services Department continued its search for the missing man on Monday .

The man's colleagues said they saw him being dragged into the river by a crocodile while fishing along the banks at around 3.15pm on Sunday . A department spokesman said the victim, a 36-year-old Filipino named Marvin Susa Dequillia, was fishing with seven other friends along the riverbank when the crocodile attacked.

Firemen could not reach the scene immediately as they could not deploy their boats due to receding river water. "Our rescue boat could not pass through ," the spokesman said, adding that the operations resumed on Monday.
