Eskom has offered some relief to South Africans.
Eskom said that load shedding will remain suspended today, 14 October until 16:00 on Sunday, 15 October. The embattled power utility said that this is possible due to breakdowns dropping to 12,168 MW whilst generating capacity out for planned maintenance stands at 6,484 MW.
“There’s a correlation between planned maintenance and the rate of failures of the units. The team is seeing when they return the units; these units remain on load for longer periods… their efficiency and reliability are improving,” the electricity minister Ramokgopa said earlier this week.Smartphone users can also download the app EskomSePush to receive push notifications when load shedding is implemented, as well as the times the area you are in will be off.
